Second Street Brewery at The Railyard

PLEASE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT OUR LOCAL RESTAURANT, even if Grub Hub may be causing negative feedback, here's why: IMPORTANT: (reposted from the Santa Fe Bulletin) Second Street Brewery HAS NOT partnered with Grub Hub or any delivery service, although it appears Grub Hub has taken the liberty to add them. Grub Hub has listed the Railyard Second Street Brewery restaurant as being open for delivery (THIS IS FALSE. That kitchen has been closed since March and the start of the pandemic. We will be offering a menu soon, but, not through Grub Hub!) If you’ve ordered from Second Street on Grub Hub and had a negative experience we apologize. We don’t have your contact info, we have no way to make your experience right. Someone just ordered food from us at the Railyard and was surely upset when Grub Hub canceled the order. We are so sorry. A few things we wish we could tell you, potential Grub Hub Delivery food customer: When you order your food, you are not ordering directly from Second Street. We never see your actual order. When you place your order, Grub Hub receives your money and your order and phones us to place an order for takeout, which they then pay for. We don’t know it is for Grub Hub. We don’t know it is for delivery. If they forget to order an item you asked for, or order the wrong item, we have no way of knowing that or correcting the problem before you get your food. If the driver arrives late with your food, we don’t know that or have any way to fix it for you. If you place an order on the Grub Hub website, we may not have the items you paid for. Why? We may not have had those menu items in over 3 years. Grub Hub has put a menu up, without consulting the restaurant or getting them to approve it. Grub Hub has old menus from our Original location listed as options from Rufina, and now, for the Railyard. We have attempted to contact them regarding this, to no result. When you pay service fees and tips through Grub Hub, they go to Grub Hub. The staff who lovingly packed your order in our restaurant do not receive that tip. (Not to say you shouldn’t tip your driver. Please tip your driver) We have reached out to a local delivery service to correct the menu they list for our Rufina location. If you are staying at home and utilizing delivery service during this pandemic, please consider ordering through a local company. Grub Hub doesn’t care about local breweries or family-owned restaurants. They don’t care if their corporate model or misleading menu damages our reputation as a restaurant or the livelihood of our staff during a pandemic. Due to covid food options are limited, but the patio was very relaxing for an afternoon beer. Our server Dennis was super attentive and friendly!

I don't care how busy you are, there is no excuse for treating potential paying customers like an inconvenience or an annoyance. I loved the Meow Wolf-adjacent location of Second Street, so I stopped into this location to hopefully get a 6-pack or two to go. It was crowded, but not a mob scene. And no matter the crowd, it's irrelevant, because all customers should be treated with respect and care regardless. I waited in line to get to the host stand and ask to buy a 6-pack, and when the host finally got around to acknowledging my presence (which took a weirdly long time), he took a tone like I was being a bother to him. Or distracting him from his actual job. I was not being treated with the same respect that dine-in customers were treated, by any means. He told me I could ask the bartenders, and that he would sell it to me, but he was busy. And by the way, he told me he was busy after spending several minutes casually bantering with the people in front of me and around me. So apparently he's too busy to sell me beer, but not too busy to chit-chat. Instead of acting that way, he could 1). adjust his tone, at the VERY least 2). stop making excuses and actually give me the time of day to make a purchase. If you're indeed too busy, that's understandable. I get that. But it's the manner in which you treat customers and interact with them that makes all the difference. I left feeling disrespected and unwanted. And no matter the intention, that's a major fail on the part of the business. Needless to say, I did not buy a 6-pack from here (a process that is unnecessarily tedious and difficult, for some reason), and will not go back to this location, which besmirches the otherwise good name and potential of this brand. A shame. This is the first time I have EVER felt compelled to write an online review of any sort like this. So that shows just how upsetting this whole experience really was.

The food was decent but the waiter paid very little attention to what we wanted. Definitely something they can improve on.
