The beginnings of the El Mácaro "Luis Fermín" Rural Pedagogical Institute (IPREMLF) date back to 1938 when the El Mácaro Rural Normal School was founded, whose objective was to train teachers for the rural sector. In 1953 it was transformed into a Farm School and later in 1958 it became the Rural Education Teacher Training Center. In 1973 it became a Center for Teacher Improvement, until 1979, when it was attached to the University Institute for Professional Improvement of Teaching as a Permanent Academic Center. In 1989, the UPEL University Council restored its character as a rural institution and was authorized to exercise the Rural Education Teacher Training Program. On September 30, 1990, through CNU Resolution No. 40, it was declared a Rural Pedagogical Institute. Currently its facilities are highly abandoned
