Cradle of the veneration of the Virgin of the Consolation and seat of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Consolation. It is one of the two basilicas that exist in the State of Táchira, the other is that of Santo Cristo de La Grita, for many years it was a Sanctuary and by decision of the Vatican, after extensive research it was decided to give it the category of basilica, the Virgin of Consolation was brought to Táriba in 1560 by two Augustinian fathers from the New Kingdom of Granada. In 1600 a hermitage was built for the veneration of the Virgin. Since then, it has been the devotional center of Táriba, and a precious relic for the majority of Catholics in the city.
