The Official Gazette of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is the official newspaper of the Government of Venezuela. Its function is the publication of laws, regulations, agreements, circulars, orders and other acts issued by the Powers of the Venezuelan Federation, so that these are duly observed and applied in their respective fields of competence in the national territory. The Official Gazette of Venezuela was created by decree dated October 11, 1872 by then President Antonio Guzmán Blanco and its first number was published on October 15, 1872. By rank of Law, the Official Gazette was established as an organ of dissemination of everything concerning the State, on May 23, 1928 during the government of Juan Vicente Gómez. The Official Publications Law (July 22, 1941, article 26) explicitly repeals what Juan Vicente Gómez dictated and in his first article indicates that from that moment the laws must be published in the Official Gazette in compliance with article 86 and 100 of the National Constitution.
