It all began on July 9, 1977, when the doors of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God were officially opened. Without conditions to rent a property, then Pastor Edir Macedo began his first meetings in a place called Méier. Oriented by the Holy Spirit and endowed with an unshakeable faith, his words then began the Church that is currently the one most responsible for the evangelical growth of the world. An old real estate factory at number 7702 Suburban Avenue was rented, apparently being the ideal place to start the work. The land around the great temple of the abolition, with initial capacity for 1500 faithful. But then I need to be expanded and, currently, it has capacity for 2000 people comfortably seated. When the young Macedo rent the land, some people considered the gesture a madness, since the rent of the property was very expensive. That audacity, meanwhile, contributed to make the Universal what it is today: a Church that does not stop growing. Each day, bishops and pastors clashed several struggles. Therefore, in the arduous journey, they are moved by the fact that everywhere there is always someone in search of inner peace, needing guidance. The objective of the IURD is always to present everyone with salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. Currently, the Universal Church accumulates large crowds in all its temples.
