Escuela Básica Santiago María Davalillo

I studied at the "Santiago María Davalillo" Basic School, from first to fifth grade. A part of my life (the one that is never forgotten: childhood), passed between the corridors of that school. I still remember the names of who my friends were (Carlitos, Rixio, Álex, Mario, Gonzalo, Énder, Edwin). I don't know where they will be, if they will remain here or will be part of the diaspora; I don't know if they'll remember me either. I remember my teachers too, the exams, the games at recess. My golden age passed between the dust of the patio and the races on the court. I also remember the first loves (the first innocent loves of that age). It pains me to see the photos of the state in which the underworld has my old school. I never returned (since I was eleven; fate took me to Merida), but I always have it in my memory. His memory, in fact, extends to the realm of dreams, where we return to tour the places we occupied in times past. God grant that the darkness that has fallen on the country dissipate so that no school or lyceum is again the target of vandalism. In spite of everything, those of us who graduated from there carry the initial teachings in our hearts and try to contribute something to the country.
