The Central Bank of Venezuela has a collection of jewels of the Liberator that began to be formed in 1973, on the recommendation of the commissioner of the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Mauro Páez Pumar. With a purse that had belonged to Simón Bolívar, the collection of miscellanies and intimate objects of the father of the country began. Years later, in 1988, the issuing institute rescued for the country, through an auction abroad, other objects that became part of this interesting and curious collection: remains of the cutlery with the SB monogram, medals and recognitions that the peoples of the south of South America offered him as a sign of gratitude for his deed in the Campaign of the South and the contribution that this fact had in the consolidation of continental independence, snuff boxes, crosses and a rosary that belonged to his family, among many others. In the consolidation of the collection, in 1974, the custody of the Sword of Peru was added, although it belongs to the Ministry of Popular Power for Internal Relations and Justice, and other small but valuable historical pieces that bear witness to history. .
