Carabobo Street was, since the seventies, the epicenter of the bohemian and cultural life of Maracaibo, but the crisis has led to oblivion those shelters where we once shared with poets, painters, actors and artists from all areas. Drinks, cigarettes, poems and cartoons mixed in a harmonious symphony that turned every night into a work of art of living. Today this experience has disappeared, but the people of the culture deny that this is an irreducible truth; so they have encouraged Ilya Izaguirre, head of the Mampara Theater Group to open their space weekly to promote the city's bohemian and cultural encounter. “The Mampara Theater has serious structural problems. For years, the financing channels were closed through subsidy agreements that we received for the maintenance of our spaces. This has put us in check for years. The comején and other plagues have become the true owners of the infrastructure of Carabobo Street, but we are willing to fight them with arts and culture. We are going to start this project of Self-Sustainable Culture for the rescue and reconditioning of our facilities, and with the desire to recover that artistic spirit of reunion and fun that always characterized the historic center of the city, ”said Ilya Izaguirre, who in addition to directing the Theater Mampara, is a recognized actor and television conductor of our region.
