I was there for the inauguration of the new bishop of the diocese of Guarenas, Mons. Tulio Ramírez. Quite comfortable and spacious cathedral, very nice location in front of the square and its colonial style. Great historical value. In 1621 there was a church there, in that same space, but in 1766 it was destroyed by an earthquake. In 1950 it was rebuilt and expanded in size. Pope John Paul II is the one who recognizes it as the Cathedral of the Diocese of Guarenas.
