It was created by businessman Daniel Camejo Octavio and his son Peter Camejo in the fifties. Both formed the crew of the Venezuelan sailing team of the Star class at the Olympic Games in Rome, where they finished in 21st place. The work began in 1954 on the central coast, specifically in Naiguatá, Vargas state. Its purpose was to offer 6,000 upper-middle class families a non-profit recreational space that could be maintained with a non-excessive affiliation payment.

Puerto Azul is a private club for high society, located in the Naiguata parish, Edo. Vargas. Likewise, the club has docks for yachts, it has three (3) buildings so that members can stay in the club, which are named; La Niña, LA Pinta and La Santa María. It also has several restaurants that offer different dishes of universal gastronomy, it has recreation and leisure sites such as an Olympic pool, one for children called (La Culebrita), and another for teenagers where it has large windows so they can take photos from outside and being able to see how they swim under the water from the outside, it has a variety of multiple courts and soccer fields, tennis courts, kayak rental services, an open-air cinema and occasional events according to the club's planning.
