Thanh An is a poor and difficult commune located at the end of Long An province, bordering Tien Giang. The commune has an area of ​​64.89 km², which is mainly cultivated by salty alum, sparsely populated, population density of just over 50 people / km².nThanh An has 1,268 ha of rice (in the Winter-Spring crop of 2008-2009), 255 ha of watermelon, 356 ha of yam, a few hectares of lotus land, and the most looked-up tree is Melaleuca - 2,523.9 ha. The yield of Winter-Spring rice crop averaged 6.5 tons / ha.nThe whole commune now has electricity and is supported to build 3 water supply plants, from big investment capital funded by the Australian Government. As a result, almost all households living on four residential lines in the commune have access to clean water from these three factories, which has helped many people's lives change.nSo far Thanh An has no concrete road. There are four main roads, namely Ben Ke road, new North Dong highway, old North East road, Cau Bung highway (newly opened) with a total length of over 34 km, covered with red gravel. Many other rural roads made with state capital and people are also quite abundant. Now 4-wheel vehicles have reached the commune center.nThe old North East canal was dredged and cleared.
