Definitely worth a visit but it would be nice if they could add some real footage and leave out the propaganda.nIt actually makes you question if the picturing of cruelty has happened in the way they portrait it.nNo doubt, the war was terrible but I believe so is every war and suffering occurs on both sides.nIt's a very one-sided version of the history.

this place is dark and horrific, especially if you go alone, you can almost feel the prisoner spirit voice. The Vietnam war is a controversial and violent war and this prison prove just that. A must visit but think carefully if you bring kids

Quite difficult to find our way, it's still interesting to see what happened and all the horrors that came along. If you are interested in Vietnam history, you should visit, otherwise, avoid. No guide emphasize the fact that it's difficult to understand and navigate

Phu Quoc War Prisoner Prison, or Phu Quoc Communist Prisoner Detention Center is a detention center located in An Thoi town in the southernmost tip of Phu Quoc island. During the Indochina War, this prison was called the Coconut Tree Prison. This is the central prisoner of war in the entire Republic of Vietnam, once held more than 32,000 prisoners (40,000 prisoners if included multi-period political prisoners). During the Vietnam War, prisoners of war at Prison Phu Quoc soldiers suffered torture such as crucifixion to arms, legs, and head; burning red wire stabbed into the flesh, chiseling teeth, covered with boiling water or pouring coal fire, thrown into a pan of boiling water, burned alive, buried alive ... For a period of less than 6 years (from May 6/1967 to 3/1973) Phu Quoc prisoner of war, more than 4,000 people died, tens of thousands were injured and disabled.nnThe Phu Quoc War Prisoners' prison has a total of 12 zones (1972), numbered from zone 1 to zone 12. Particularly zones 13 and 14 were added to the end of 1972. Each prison has the capacity to store about 3,000 prisoners. In 1972, there were about 36,000 prisoners. Each prison area was divided into several subdivisions. Usually there are 4 subdivisions, within 1 zone. One division holds 950 prisoners. Division B2 is dedicated to detaining officers. The prisoners with the largest rank are Lieutenant Colonel. The Phu Quoc War Prisoner Camp is guarded by 3 military police battalions (7, 8, and 12).nnIn addition, Phu Quoc Prison also has a criminal detention center, holding common criminals sentenced to 10 years or more, in Duong Dong town, on the western side of the island.nnCurrently Phu Quoc Prison is one of the historic tourist attractions, which record the crimes of the United States and the Republic of Vietnam.
