The history of construction and development of the Faculty of Physics in particular and of the Hanoi Pedagogical University in general started from October 11, 1951 under the name of the Advanced Pedagogy School, led by Professor. Le Van Thiem is the first Principal. Due to the situation of the country at war, the College of Advanced Education temporarily operated in Nanning (China). Graduates with excellent grades are continuously retained in the faculty: course V (1956-1959) including Ho Trong Mai, Tran Van Quynh, Le Trong Tuong, Le Chan Hung, Nguyen Thi Bach; course VI (1957 - 1960) included Nguyen Trong Thua, Cao Minh Thi, Nguyen Quyen; Session VII (1958 - 1960) had Nguyen Huu Minh, Do Khac Huong, Nguyen Ba Trem (transferred from the army) at that time, Mr. Hoang Quy was sent to practice in the Soviet Union. In the school year 1959 - 1960, Mr. Vu Truong Du was appointed to be the Head of the Faculty.nnThe Mathematics Department was established by Mr. Nguyen Canh Toan as Chairman. The number of officers and employees of the department is now more than 30 people. From 1960-1961 the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics was divided into two faculties: the Department of Physics was chaired by Mr. Duong Trong Bai.
