History of Hoa My ParishnnPreviously, Hoa My was a parish of Trai Le parish with the name of My Hoa. In 2005, the number of parishioners, the need for pastoral demands, and the diocese of the diocese separated the Le camp into two parishes: Trai Le and Hoa My. Currently, Hoa My parish has over 3600 parishioners, united by 5 families: their teachers run My Hoa, Thinh Lac, Van Dinh, My Thuy and Dong Nghia. The parish priest is Father Peter Nguyen Xuan Dinh. Although it has just officially established the parish since 2005, the seed of the Gospel has been sown on the land of Hoa My in the 18th century. Hoa My was one of the first parishes of Trai Le - a parish founded before the founding of Vinh diocese (1846).nnIn the Van Than period (1883 - 1888), the land of Hoa My now had the first church built with wood. Later, Father John Le Van Huong restored it to a more beautiful and beautiful cathedral. This first cathedral was collapsed after a major storm in 1989. In 1991, the parishioners built a new church. After two years of construction, the project was completed and put into use, bearing the title of St. Joseph the Worker. However, because the material was scarce at the time, it was built at a difficult economic time, the cathedral was only built with limestone and was seriously degraded. So the desire to rebuild the cathedral is a long-term dream of the parishioners.nnAfter returning to office, seeing that the old church was degraded by time and becoming small compared to the constantly increasing number of Catholics, Father Peter Nguyen Xuan Dinh and his parishioners started construction. New church next to the old church on March 7, 2013 and completed on February 28, 2017
