On January 10, 1953, the Provincial Party Committee decided to establish Lai Chau Public Security Company and appointed Mr. Tran Quoc Manh, deputy head of the provincial Party Committee to be the head of the company, with 25 officers and soldiers. In the period 1955 - 1962, the Autonomous Region did not have a provincial level, the regional government system consisted of three levels: Zone, Chau (previous district) and commune.nIn late 1962, the Party Central Committee and the Government decided to re-establish 3 provinces: Lai Chau, Son La and Nghia Lo. Along with the re-establishment of provincial departments and branches, Lai Chau Police Department was re-established. In the early days, Lai Chau Police encountered many difficulties, the leaders from the province to the rooms and departments were lacking. Under the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, Lai Chau Police force quickly stabilized the organizational apparatus, meeting the requirements of protecting political security and maintaining security and order. whole society in the province.nImplementing Resolution No. 22/2003 / NQ-QH11 dated November 26, 2003 of the XIth National Assembly on adjusting the boundaries and separating Lai Chau province into Dien Bien and Lai Chau provinces. Lai Chau Police Department was established under the Decision No. 25/2004 / QD-BCA (X13) dated January 8, 2004 of the Ministry of Public Security, consisting of 24 rooms and 5 district police.
