In 1955, parishioners from many dioceses in the North migrated to Phuong Lam land on Highway 20, km 132 to settle. A year later, Phuong Lam Parish was established and Father John Nguyen Xuan Huong, from Phat Dioc diocese, took care of the parish. At the beginning, the community here built a wooden church with a corrugated iron roof to serve as a place for worshiping and praying. From 1962 to 1977, when Father Joseph Nguyen Ba Thi was in charge of Phuong Lam Parish, the community built new churches and parish houses. From 1977 to 1990, Father John Baotixita Nguyen Van Que was in charge of Phuong Lam Parish. Father John Baotixita focused on building the community of love, charity and witness to the Gospel. In 1990, Father Anton Nguyen Tue succeeded Father John Baotixita. From the early years of the parish, Father Anton together with the parish community built a new cathedral and after two years, the construction was completed. During this time, the parish house was upgraded. In 2012, Father Anton Nguyen Van Thuc was in charge of Phuong Lam Parish. In a large and populous parish like Phuong Lam Parish, Father Anton dedicated himself wholeheartedly to serving the parish.
