On Christmas and Easter occasions, lay people travel more than 20 km to attend mass and receive sacraments at neighboring churches. From 1977 to 1985, there were many waves of migrants migrating to this place, so the number of Catholics increased rapidly. At this time, Thach Lam was only an odd family of Ngoc Lam parish administered by Father Joseph Maria Pham Quang Thieu. In 1989, Joseph Pham Hung Son was sent to help the retailer Thach Lam and the teacher and the parishioners set up the first chapel as a place to offer and pray. A year later, Bishop Paul Maria Nguyen Minh Nhat officially raised this surname to Thach Lam parish and sent Father Joseph Pham Hung Son to be the first parish priest. In 1998, Father Joseph De Doan Viet Thao was in charge of Thach Lam Parish. Four years later, Father Joseph De built with Thach Lam parishioner, inaugurated the church and the pastoral house. Through the precious times, the parish priest, the activities of the community Thach Lam parish has come into order and has evangelistic pastoral activities for the ethnic minority communities which are very specific and rich. Currently, under the guidance of Father Joseph Vu Van Khai, Thach Lam Parish is stable in all aspects and Father Joseph and the community are pushing the mission.
