A historical place, learned a lot about Vietnam history of leprosy (lepra) disease and Vietnam relationship with France. There are still some lepra community who are living around.

Rode our motorcycle the Shortish distance from Quy Nhon to have a look at Quy Hoa beach.nJust wanted to go to the beach for a swim and a buy a bit of food.nWas stopped at the entrance road by a group of local women charging (extorting more like it), money to enter the area as it is apparently the site of a former leprosy Colony. As soon as they see a potential target they quickly pull up a rope to stop you.nAt first she shows me ticket book for 5k, which I saw was for motorcycle (an all to common scam in Vietnam where your bike is supposedly safe), I go to give her 5k and she wants more money, presumably an entry fee for each person also.nnNow this situation just became even more ridiculous as I pondered both, why someone would actually pay to go to a leper colony, and the mentality of people who are actually stupid enough to try to charge a fee to enter one!nnI read somewhere that the locals at Quy Hoa appreciate tourists coming in and spending/ donating a few dollars.nWell they got nothing from us as we just turned around and went elsewhere, as did the group of around ten Vietnamese tourists on motorcycles who appeared just as shocked as we were.
