Gorgeous church just outside the main hustle and bustle of Hanoi. The architecture and surrounding garden are a blend of western and Vietnamese sensibilities, with the inside being somehow simple but ornate at the same time. I was welcomed inside and had the pleasure of seeing/hearing the parishioners chanting/praying in Vietnamese while doing their rosaries. A truly unexpected and interesting experience. I was treated as any other parishioner, though obviously a stranger. I was able to pop in, sit a while, say a quick prayer and leave without feeling as though i didn't belong or was unwelcome or that i was an amusing oddity (i could tell the other parishioners were a little surprised at some random westerner popping into church halfway through the rosary, but who wouldn't be?). Overall, a beautiful place with very welcoming people.
