Huge and impressive statue, carved stone wall and pagoda. Off the tourist track so nothing written in English.

Large statue and park area, good for kids playing or rollerblading around. Often very busy but also great for an evening walk and people watching!

Đống Đa Mound is said to be the place where the Battle of Ngọc Hồi-Đống Đa between Tây-Sơn and the Manchu Qing army ended.nnHaving lost, Sầm Nghi Đống (Chinese: 岑宜棟) fled and refused to fall into the hands of the Tây-Sơn by hanging himself on Ốc (Loa Sơn) hill. After the war, in order to promote diplomatic relations with the Qing, Sầm Nghi Đống was returned for a state burial and resident Han Chinese were allowed to build a temple on today's Đào Duy Từ street.nnAfter the battle, King Quang Trung ordered the bodies of the enemies to be collected and put into 12 large burial mounds. These 12 hills were spread from Thịnh Quang to Nam Đồng villages. As they became overgrown with banyan trees the landscape came to be called Đống Đa, literally Heap of Banyan trees.

Dalbergia tonkinensis  grows a lot at this palce. It is threatened by habitat loss and overexploitation for timber because there's a huge demand of it from Chinese market.

A mound built up by the corpses of an invading Chinese force from 1800c. From the Battle of Ngọc Hồi-Đống Đa, a smaller Vietnamese force(50,000-100k) fought off an overwhelming Chinese force of 100-200k defeating half of their forces while losing only a small fraction of their own. The defeat for Cen Yidong, the Chinese general was so humiliating that he fled only to kill himself soon after.nnThroughout the cities they buried the bodies in different mounds. At this one they've constructed a large statue ot the winning Vietnamese King Quang Trung-Nguyễn Huệ, Mid-stride as if walking across the flat surface to the mound.nnGreat place to take the children to go dancing on top of hill and walking around the very quiet park in the area. For the younger crowds take a scooter or little bicycle and you've got a big wide and motorbikeless spot for them to practice. Across the street are some amazing Bun Ca Places.nnBe mindful of the trash around the walkway though as some didn't look particularly sanitary(in pictures)
