Pham Ngu Lao Ward Police

I have left my cell phone in a grab taxi on 27th November near saigonciti Hotel. Immediately after 5 minutes I realised and called my cellphone number left inside the taxi, but after 2 rings the cellphone was switched off. I am sure that the taxi driver has taken it as I was sitted in the front seat during the trip. Accordingly I filed a lost complaint at the pham lau ward police station after lot of hurdles as they only accept complaint written in Vietnamese language and that they want a local Vietnamese to accompany a foreigner.nAnyway after accepting my complain the police officer called the taxi driver to police station and also asked me to visit on the same time, accordingly I went there and found the taxi driver seated there, and the officer informed me that the taxi driver has not seen my cellphone and he thinks it has been taken away by the next passenger who got into his car after my getting down,, but I asked the taxi driver whether the next passenger sat in the front seat or the back seat as I left my mobile on the front seat. At this the police officer scolded me by saying your cellphone was not so costly and that the driver has a good reputation and he is the son of a former police officer. I did not further argue as it was a foreign land but could easily make out the motive of both. However the police officer told me that they will provide me a report the next day and asked me to collect the same. Next day I went to the police station, but strangely I was not provided any report, rather they handed over the photocopy of the lost complaint submitted by me.nThis shows that the police station is not at all serious about the problems faced by the tourists, rather they are always ready to safeguard the criminal taxi drivers.

You have to select one start but this place is a 0! The police at this station are the worst! I was robbed by someone posing as a Grab driver on April 29,2019. I told them it happened around 1:00 am and showed them the receipt that I received for the Grab drop off that never happened. When they pulled the video they only started at 1:10am and said I was lying because they didn't see me on the tape. I asked them to go back to 1:00am because I knew I walked directly in the area where the video was pointing. They refused! They asked me very stupid questions about the motorbike that robbed me and then when I couldn't tell them where the guy left me their response was well if you don't know we don't know. They pulled some guy off the street while I was there. The guy was out of it either drunk or high and they started slapping him around. I believe the plain clothes officers at this police station are the ring leaders of the robberies that happen in this area and that is why we as tourist can not get any help! The Vietnamese government need to address this issue and we as tourist need to warn people NOT to go here. This situation turned me off to the entire country because bad police are allowed by bad politicians!

If you lose passport, wallet etc. this is the place to go. Remember to insist to fill in the documents by yourself. Do not let them make you call your hotel/hostel for help. After 5 minutes they will let you do it. Everything will be ready the following working day.

Came here to file police report after two guys on a scooter snatched handbag of me while walking on the street near by. One piece of advice, do not come here if you do not have someone speaking Vietnamese. They will ignore you and ask you to call your hotel manager. In my case the hotel manager did not speak English and it was middle of night. I call slovak embassy and luckily they were able to provide Vietnamese speaking delegate the next day.

I had a easy problem to fix. One basement parking with cameras broke my motorbike, and I ask police for help. They didn't do anything for help me. But the the CSCD that I found in the street (the black police) they help me a lot, very nice and professional. So, the yellow police is totally unusless with my experience, just try to get money.
