My Thuan ferry was formerly on National Highway 1, connecting the two provinces of Tien Giang and Vinh Long, with two north and south banks about 1 km apart. Since 2000, the ferry has ceased operation when My Thuan Bridge was put into use.nnBefore the French came to Vietnam, there was a wharf in My Thuan village (Kien Dang district, Dinh Tuong province; now belongs to Hoa Hung commune, Cai Be district, Tien Giang province). The ferry was built around 1910 when there was a road car. The south bank of the ferry now belongs to My Thuan hamlet, Tan Hoi commune, Vinh Long city, and is 9 km from the city center to the west.nnMy Thuan ferry used to play an important role in road transport in the Southwest region.
