Mausoleum of Emperor Khai Dinh

Only 15-20 min from the center of Hue, this is the last Nguyen Dynasty tomb ever made. It's very beautiful and the guides are very knowledgeable. With COVID active around the world, this tomb really doesn't have many visitors. Now is a good and quiet time to go before tourism begins again.

The last Mausoleum built during the Nguyen Dynasty for the penultimate Emperor of Vietnam. Died at a young age of 40; father to the last Emperor Bao Dai who died overseas as recently as 1997. Well worth a visit to see the last hurrah

The Mausoleum of Emperor Khai Dinh is part of the Unesco World Heritage site of Hue. It was built from 1920 to 1931 where it represents a mixture of Western and Oriental architecture. The highlight of the Mausoleum is the intricate design of glass and porcelain on the walls of the main chamber of the Tomb. This design is likely influenced by the emperor's visit to Marseilles in 1922.
