Sadly this palace was completely destroyed during the Second World War and a restoration project of $5.2m is still to commence. The palace was home to the last two kings of the Nguyen Dynasty, Khai Dinh and Bao Dai. Two cannons and a restored golden dragon-lion guard the entrance, overlooking the landscapes gardens.

Only the foundation of the Kien Trung palace left. It was mostly destroyed during the first Indochina War in 1947 by the Viet Minh (commie-led forces) to prevent the French from taking it back. The last emperors of Nguyen dynasty lived in this palace
