Have you ever wonder how a river can flow through a citadel??? This is the answer. This gate was built over the river to connect both side of the wall.

This is the last point of the Ngu Ha river flowing in Hue before flowing into Ke Van River (Tay Ho Thanh Ha), then merging with Huong River. Ngu Ha River is the most important waterway system of Hue citadel, this is a remaining part of some tributaries of Kim Long River which were retained after people filled the river with soil to build the citadel. The river was formed in 2 phases, the first phase of the river only extends from the east of Khanh Ninh Bridge to Dong Thanh Thuy Quan. After recognizing the importance of the river, the Nguyen government has continued to dig the river to connect as far as Western Ho Thanh Ha. If Hue can exploit a waterway tourist route starting from the Huong River to Dong Ho Thanh Ha (Dong Ba dug river), then to the citadel on Ngu Ha river, then return to Tay Ho Thanh Ha and back to Huong river, then This will be a really interesting travel route.
