Hieu Liem ParishnAround 1980, some people moved to live along the provincial road 746 and along the Dong Nai river connecting Song Be. At that time, people were too poor, could not transport to the parishes of Lac An parish to attend Mass because the road was difficult, especially muddy in the rainy season, dusty in the dry season. Therefore, this number of people hardly ever attended Mass every week. They named the area a poor hamlet.nnIn 1993, Father Peter Luu Duc Tan applied for permission to propose to the Government to allow Father Daminh Ha Chi Luyen to go to the poor neighborhood to celebrate Mass weekly on Sunday, at the thatched cottage of Mr. Daminh Dao Cong Dam and Ms. Maria Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh.nnSome time later, the government named this area Hamlet 5, Lac An Commune, Tan Uyen District, Song Be Province (now Binh Duong Province). Since then, towards the Diocese, this place has been called Hieu Liem Diocese.nnIn 1994, Head of the County, Peter Luu Duc Tan, applied to Missio's agency for a budget to build Hieu Liem chapel.nnIn 1996, Father Daminh Ha Chi Luyen officially submitted an application to Father Director Micae Le Van Kham to introduce to Song Be Provincial Government for permission to build a chapel in this area. After a period of time, the government agreed to approve and assign the land to build.nnIn 1997, on the Sunday Solemnity of the Martyrs of Vietnam, the patron of the Congregation, Bishop Micae Le Van Kham returned to bless the chapel and gave Confirmation to some children.nnIn 2000, Hieu Liem was raised to Catholic surname by the Archdiocese, because the number of Catholics had reached 200.nnIn 2005, the provincial government established Hieu Liem commune, and the diocesan bishops' court raised the rank of parish.
