Tran Nam Restaurant

This is a very unassuming eatery just off of Highway 18 as it passes through Sao Đỏ. It was recommended to me by someone familiar with the area or I never would have found it. Now, it is one of my standard stopping point when going to or returning from business in Quảng Ninh.nnHearty dishes with some local produce influences. The greens and the herb infused omelette they do are little like what you find in Hanoi. Roast chicken seems to be a standard dish for them, as are a few stir fry types. The format us very standard Northern Vietnamese restaurant with a little local flair.nnIf you're in the area, it is a solid option.

Fun stop on our way to Ha Long Bay. Navigated our way through the lack of menu and ordered what the locals recommended. Treated to a plates of rag worm omelette, fried crickets and chili pork. Quite delicious. Plus super helpful and friendly staff despite our ineptitude with the local language.
