Major Seminary St. Francis Xavier Vinh-ThanhnnOfficially born on November 22, 1988, amid the joy of the entire parishioners of two dioceses of Vinh and Thanh Hoa. As a Major Seminary for both dioceses, the Board of Directors and the Church are all members of both dioceses. Bishop Peter John Tran Xuan Hap, the Bishop of Vinh was the Director; Bishop Peter Pham Tan, Bishop of Thanh Hoa and Father Joseph Vuong Dinh Ai acted as Deputy Directors.nnOn November 22, 1988, it was also the solemn day of the first semester opening with the number of seminarians of 30, of which 18 were from Vinh and 12 were from Thanh Hoa.nOn May 31, 1994, the expected day came, at the cathedral's cathedral, the Diocese of Vinh, the ordination ceremony for 25 deacons in Vinh diocese, including the first seminary and some teachers were proficient at the Bishop of Vinh.

Events and milestones are importantn- In 1877: Bishop Yves Maria Croc Hoa started construction of the seminary near Nha Chung and Junior Seminary.n- In 1886: Bishop Louis Pineau decided to use the priest's retirement home as the seminary and renamed it the Franciscan seminary of St. Xavier.n- In 1914 to 1916, Bishop Andre Joseph Eloy North rebuilt the entire work of the seminary.n- In 1945: Major Seminary and Junior Seminary were closed.n1948: The seminary reopened.n- 1951: Major Seminary reopened.n- 1981: The seminary was closed.n- November 22, 1988: The seminary was re-opened with the new name of St. Francis Xavier Vinh-Thanh St. Francis Major Seminary, where priests were trained for the dioceses of Vinh and Thanh Hoa.n- June 8, 2012 to 2014: reconstruction of the entire seminary.n- September 3, 2013: Making of the Collegiate Chapel.n- December 3, 2014: Inauguration of the reconstruction of the Grand Seminary.
