La Rotonda is a restaurant where I had several times an aperitif, other times a coffee, but they were all situations created on purpose to sit and converse having a drink and / or tease, enjoying one of the most interesting views in the world: what remains of the Forum of the ancient rich Roman center of Durres, intermediate site between Rome and Athens. In fact, in addition to the maritime route, the two cities joined indirectly also through the Via Egnatia (Rruga Egnazia) which was initially built in the second century BC. it connected Epidamnos (Durres) to Thessalonica (Thessaloniki), to reach Constantinople in the imperial age. in short, the view from the windows of the bar-restaurant ranges for more than two thousand years, and is happy to have a 20/30 minute coffee or aperitif. A dreamy break that can be concretely improved with a conservation intervention and immediately 5stelle.
