Hotel Splendor & Spa

A high standard hotel located in one of the most beautiful place ever ( Dhermi ). The owners are great people and the staff is always helpful and polite. Interesting design, comfortable and clean rooms. The view is amazing. The hotel has two excellent restaurants, one inside it and another near the beach. Highly recommended!

I can only agree with all negative comments here and I'm sorry I gave Splendor a chance. I stayed 2 nights in September 2020. This is NOT a 5* hotel. First, the road to reach the hotel is awful, you need 4x4 if you don't want to damage your car. I can't understand why they don't repair the holes, there's a fancy expensive hotel further down the road and none of them cares! Second, the garage is awful, leaking water, not enough space for all the guests. You can also park outside on the main street or right in front of the main hotel entrance as some of the big cars do (and with that make it difficult for guests to enter on feet, especially if you have all your beach luggage with you and kids - but again, the hotel doesn't care about that). Third, the room was OK, nice view, nice balcony, comfortable mattress and pillows, night lamps that are so rare in Albania (nobody reads anymore before bedtime?). On the other hand, there's no free bottle of water (at least the welcoming one if not offered every day), no tea/coffee maker. In the bathroom, there was a hairdryer, towels, slippers, soap and shower gel. No amenity kits. Fourth, the first day while I was having my breakfast, somebody entered my room, took a can of Coke, drank it and has thrown the can in the garbage bin. It was not the cleaning stuff since the room was not tidened (or?). When I reported that, the hotel stuff was replying with: but nothing is missing, right? It wasn't, but that's not a point. They didn't understand why I'm upset and kind of promised me they'll check the security cameras. I honestly think they couldn't check that since it's questionable whether the security system is even working. In the end, they told me none the cleaning girls entered and they had no idea what happened. 'But nothing is missing, right?' Last, having this bad experience I expected the hotel would offer me a compensation, a free coffee at least. No, in the end, they charged me full prices, even a coffee and water I ordered by the bar, and on the top, paying by card, there's 2 % extra. I'll definitely won't enter that hotel anymore and I don't recommend so to anybody. But again, I think they just don't care...

Pros: Very nice pool. Staff was friendly and works hard to serve requests. Rooms were well laid out. The design of the actual hotel itself is very well done. Breakfast was really good. Negatives: Every once in a while, the smell of sewer comes through the air conditioning right over your bed. When you come back to your room at night and open the door, the smell can be overwhelming. Hotel sits directly next to a terrible trash dump/landfill, the smell of which often wafts into the property’s area, and which you must walk past each day as you walk to the beach. The private beach is a hefty walk away along a heavily trafficked road. Especially since you need to walk past the disgusting landfill, it is not splendiferous at all. The private beach itself is in a strange location - and there are heavy cross currents that we haven’t experienced anywhere else in Dhermi.

From the moment I walked into Hotel Splendor, I was transported to summer heaven. Nothing was too much trouble for the relentlessly accommodating staff. The room was beautiful with a stunning view of the beach and mountains, the food was impeccable (probably the best seafood I have ever had), with breakfast being served in a buffet-style manner. The friendly hotel staff catered for your every whim. Additionally, the beach in Dhërmi takes your breath away with its sapphire blue clear water. To make a long review short, I cannot wait to return. I cannot think of anything else that you would need from a vacation!

We just stayed there for five nights ( September 14 to 19 2019). The hotel and staff couldn’t have been better. The hotel is extremely modern and beautiful. Our room was much more than we expected and the owner Vali, her daughter Lori, and all the staff made us feel like family. Deti and Indirit were exceptional as were all the other staff. Unfortunately I can’t remember all their names but one of the staff knew that we like to get up early and so had coffee ready for us an hour earlier then normal, which was 7:30. The beach is beautiful with a very nice beach bar. The water in southern Albania is terribly beautiful as is the coastline. Relative the to Euro and Dollar, Splendor and Albanian are a steal. Extremely good value for the accommodations and the service. Definitely worth every penny and more.
