If you've got some downtime in Luanda, head up the coast to see this shipwreck graveyard. You can definitely get some good photos. No more than an hour needed.

Amazing landscape for photos. Santiago beach, around 30 minutes from the town centre of Luanda

Shipwrecks after shipwrecks found along this long stretch of beach, stretching as far as your eyes can see. Some of the are so near to the beach that you can access them. But be careful not to enter the shipwreck as the hull steel has been badly corroded and it might fall off anytime. Definitely worth your time if you are into adventurous stuff. The place can be accessed via a fifteen minutes off-road drive from the nearest main road.

Still nice to go and look at, Will suggest to go as a group.

This is a fantastic way to spend a morning. Arrive early in a group and keep moving. Our Angolan friends advised us for safety reasons to go as a group early in the morning and not to stay long. My husband and I went 3 times with friends and took our nice DSLR cameras and never had any problems. We arrived around 8 am and walked from one end of the beach to the other taking photos and left around 10:30. Sadly, many of our friends were mugged in the beach. Just be aware of your environment and be safe. We’d gladly go again.
