Fantastic experience with the EOC. Handled my complaint fairly and gave thorough and realistic advice on all potential outcomes.nAs a 'little guy' going up against an opponent with far more resources than I have, there was no way I could have managed to seek justice without the help of the EOC.nThis is a vital and valuable organisation that must be maintained for the public good.

Seriously needs to be investigated.nnEg. Publish numbers of what they have done to help the community since inception - like largest damages awards et cetera. Transparent publication of their KPIs and performance.nnTHE EOC CONCEPT IS ESSENTIAL FOR A POSITIVE COMMUNITY!nnYet, my experience was horrible.nnIn short (and leaving everything anonymous), I was wronged by a government department (no question.) The only question was whether this wrong was unlawful/caused by discrimination.nnIt appeared to be so on my research and the EOC agreed - initially. The process continued with the other side denying everything but offering a settlement. The EOC pressured me to accept but it seemed a ludicrous offer to me . I persevered and then the EOC acting commissioner dismissed my complaint as without merit.nnFurther research reinforced my view that there was indeed substantial interpretation of law as to whether the misconduct was discrimination or not (in any case, it was embarassing and immoral for the government department to have done.)nnI then had to appeal the EOC decision through court *at my own time, stress, and personal financial risk.nnThe matter was eventually resolved amicably - no thanks to EOC.nnPlease note that I did all this without the intent of personal gain. If people don't stand up for what is right, our rights are slowly eroded. One grain of sand at a time. EOC should be a defender of what's right.
