Gab Titui Cultural Centre

I highly recommend visiting Gab Titui Cultural Centre when you visit Thursday Island. Rich with cultural history and storytelling. They exist to promote local artists work and support artist practitioners in the region. Protecting cultural heritage and language is what makes this place unique and is a gem for Australia to be very proud of.

Wonderful culture and art to see and buy! I went twice in one day to view, soak up and enjoy the beauty that has been captured through the artists in the gallery! I left with a beautiful artwork, earrings and a wonderful bookmark and a lot more knowledge of Thursday Islands History. Bathroom facilities, a cafe out front, an incredible space for what I'd believe it for festivals and galas of sorts and very accommodating and friendly staff! From little trinkets to beautiful hand made jewellery to exquisite artwork telling stories of history and legends that you might never hear from another person. Definitely a must see on your trip to Thursday Island. Cherish the stories that we have been lucky enough to hear or see. Inside is stunning - be sure to check it out, sorry for lack of photos!

Beautiful artwork. Great history. Amazing gifts etc. Some a little pricey.

Great display of art and history within the cultural centre. You can also purchase local art and jewellery. The cafe inside the centre is fantastic.

Had a delicious lunch at the Cafe here. Staff were great. Had a brief look at the Art Gallery and the Souvenir shop as I ran out of time. There were some beautiful artwork.
