Good point about the no recycle centers it is a feature of the Whitsundays as though they're moving from green/left to the so popular nationally far right. So you see more professional/authoritarian discrimination in regulations etc such as closing recycle centers which might be more used by e.g. those over 55 that can't get house loans. Which is also the usual bitter divide or local community battle line about which income/age groups they want to encourage locally. The shops half empty streetscape is another characteristic feature of the current WRC. Sometimes I notice it's like the alcohol disconnection, not listening, not noticing things around them like climate issues and mines dumping coal on towns for months on end. Apparently WRC's not much good at managing money either. A puzzler question could be whether taking green waste to WRC tips is even eco friendly. But they seem basically functional and gradually building facilities etc like most councils so it would need at least a few stars for e.g. the great play parks.

Barbara and Steve Underwood - do you even live in the Whitsundays?nnProserpine has pretty clean tasting water. Bins go out once a week. The town is very clean. Roads in town seem in good condition. Rates are on the high side but for what the town is. I wish that they would hold more events in Proserpine or cheaper rates for businesses so that we could bring more people and money back into the small town. We need more young working class people encouraged to live here. People who will spend money and support local business. At the moment it seems like a ghost town. Also, I noticed a small population of non local housos roaming the streets occasionally. Are we a dumping ground for people kicked out of their own towns?

Pretty appalling that a regional council on the Great Barrier Reef has no recycling plant ! This is frankly mediocre behaviour ,
