Chatswood Oval

Cricket / rugby oval with small child's play area. Some grandstands, since this oval is home to Gordon Rugby Club and Gordon District Cricket Club. Games are on each Saturday, cricket in summer and rugby in winter. Oval is flat and well maintained, but dogs must stay on a lead.

Serves as an oasis of peace and quiet so close to the hustle and bustle of Chatswood shopping precinct. Great playground for the kids. Great place to exercise. Willoughby Council continue making upgrades to make it even more amenable.

Wonderful oval, which Council are doing up a bit at the moment. Tuesday, Wednesday and a Thursday night a local rugby team practice and its great to watch. Or you can still exercise there by walking or jogging around the oval. On those three nights the flood lights are on. Plenty of people and kids always here, and all are very friendly.

What a great place to exercise early in the morning, or, to get a coffee later around 10am, relax and listen to the man playing his peaceful flute music under the grandstand. We are all very lucky to have it.nThe guys who look after the grass and vegetation do an exemplary job, considering the number of people who use it and I personally would like to thank them for their efforts. The whole place is meticulously maintained.nThough I must say chaps, if you don’t want people to go on to some areas, you might like to put some witch’s hats or a barrier around it, instead of gruffly barking out orders like some sort of sergeant major, otherwise you’re likely to get a gob full back, like I gave you yesterday morning. A polite direction is all I need and you will get the same back (politeness). Likewise abuse - I may be 70, but I won’t take any of your verbal rubbish!nThank you David (the boss) for taking my call and your handling of the situation, you’re a true gent.

Chatswood Oval public stand is disgraceful. It was littered upon our arrival to watch the day's football and appeared to have not been cleaned for months. The Gordon Rugby Club charged $25 per adult to watch from this stand!
