Joondalup Licensing Centre

Joondalup Licensing Centre needs more phone attendants. For a small licensing problem I abandoned the first call. On the second try the wait time was a mere forty minutes.nnWhat led to the phone calls?nnA month prior I had queued outside the Licensing Centre for forty minutes in a non shaded area in stifling heat worrying if I'd put enough money in the meter. My simple objective was to replace a badly faded number plate. I happily paid $28.60 and waited for the licence papers to be sent to my house (the car was in my wife's name and they wouldn't hand me the new papers). A month later the papers had not arrived in the mail and we wanted to sell the car. When my second phone call was finally answered I was informed they would not send papers if the car was within three months of the re-registration fee. I had purchased the plates more than four months prior to re-registration fee being due.nnSo now we were at a fee of $3.60 to send papers by mail after them not being sent in the first place. I have no problem with the few dollars but my wife had the credit card. To obtain the credit card, make a third phone call and wait another forty minutes or more to pay $3.60, was not something I favored.nA supposedly simple transaction had turned into hours of work with the possibility of much further escalation. Fortunately, as I was asking to speak with senior management a decision was made by a supervisor to just send me the licence papers. Done.nWith the amazing time waste, no wonder the Licensing Centre needs more staff.

The opening hours, especially lack of Saturday as of May 2021 makes it impractical to use. This is supposed to be a public service centre...

Took my PDA here today and even tho I did not pass. My assessor Kylie was amazing, was super kind and reassuring knew that I was stressing out a little and was making sure that I was breathing. I knew that I had messed up and it was making me nervous but she was super kind and made me feel extremely comfortable and explained at the end where I went wrong and what I need to focus on. Disappointed that I didn’t pass but I know what I need to work on now and pumped for my next test hoping to pass next time

Busy! 40 minute wait to be seen. Another 15 mins to sort out a concession that should have been possible online.nnThis included emailing screenshots of concession, it wasn't enough to sight it. Can't pay part cash and part by card.nnDetails updated but still need to pay licence. About time the website was clearer to understand. Even though I'd called and checked verbally what was needed, there was another form, plus the proof of concession before it could be processed.nnIn 2021 ALL of this should be available online. Without. Having to attend a busy, crowded licensing centre.

Wait time is a little long but the staff was excellent
