Warakurna Multi-Functional Police Facility

The Warakurna Multi-functional Police Facility is so-called because it performs several tasks. It has an interview room, video interview room, holding cells and I believe (but cannot confirm) that it has built-in facilities to operate as a courtroom. The Facility provides an ongoing police presence in the region, which improves safety for staff, tourists and locals. Five stars for our fantastic WA Police, I really appreciate the hard work they put into improving our Communities in the Outback. We really are lucky to have police that care about our communities, it makes life better for everyone. Every interaction I've had with WA Police in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands has been courteous, pleasant and professional. Other information: Warakurna Multi-functional Police Facility is located near the Giles Weather Station, which is separate from the nearby Community of Warakurna. Confusingly, maps including Google Maps call this location Ngaanyatjarra-Giles. The Ngaanyatjarra part of that names refers to the name of the indigenous people of this region. Giles is the historical English name for this community. Local lingo: Warakurna is often used to collectively identify Giles, the Roadhouse (Warakurna Roadhouse) and Warakurna Community. I've never heard anyone identify the community as Ngaanyatjarra-Giles but everyone who uses a map knows it's the same place.
