Great place to burn off some school holiday energy. The learn to climb course was a bargain at $20 for 90min.

Townsville doesn't have much in the way of open choices when it comes to publicly available and easy access indoor sports. That's not to say what is available isn't much. While it's no massive climbing gym with long routes, it is easily a great place to work out, have some fun, or spend some time with the family. Staff are generally all around friendly And helpful. The general community inside has also been in my experience really positive, from polite to friendly to lightheartedly competitive to jovial. Booking through the app is also simple and understandable, but due to the global pandemic issue, don't forget to do that (mindbody on the app store, free download) or there could be some confusion. If you're not sure about that as I was when I initially found this place, the staff can walk you through it. Once booked, just turn up, tick your name and get climbing. I tend to avoid memberships and other subscription based services (Netflix, Spotify, Amazon, nope, can live without) but my initial few experiences here were positive enough that I signed up and I've yet to be disappointed. Well, tad a lie, a good thing about hot rock is that it does change up walls and climbs to keep things fresh, something I'm not used to in Townsville. Why disappointed? I just started to get the hang of a couple harder climbs then they changed before I managed to complete them haha!nTL;DR it's worth the time and money to check it out alone or with friends and family, from beginner to practiced, and even from young to old.
