The whole process after calling Modern Group has been wonderful. I called about a repair to my parents' house and their 2 roller shutters, which we thought had been installed by Modern years ago. Although the shutters were not original Modern shutters, their technician was able to suggest parts replacement and converted manual wind shutters to battery operated with 2 year warranty. All done in approximately two weeks from initial call. Highly recommend on price, professionalism and customer satisfaction.

We live in Sydney and about 12 months ago, we had Modern install roller shutters on the 2 windows that were the most exposed to the extreme weather we had been having. We had found that the shutters did exactly what we were hoping they would do, so we recently had shutters installed on 2 more windows. We had no hesitation in asking Modern to install the shutters again because we were very happy with the whole process the first time. We have had the same experience with the recent installation. What probably impressed us most was when we were given a time for the quote and installation, they either arrived on time or even a little early. Thank you Modern.

Very Disappointing ServicenI’ve been one of Modern’s best customers having bought numerous shutters from them in the past for my townhouse and house. The shutters have withstood the elements well. Even those I bought over 20 years ago still look good.nnOn recently moving into my house I discovered that one of the shutters stuck half-way down. A tradesman sent by Modern found that the window opening narrowed by about 5 mm where the shutter stuck & that I’d need a new slightly narrower curtain. The tradesman measured the window and ordered a narrower curtain. Six weeks later the replacement curtain was installed and it was too narrow with a gap on one side (see the photo). The tradesman told me it had not been cut to the correct width and would need to be remade. That was two months ago.nnSince then I’ve had nothing but excuses as to why the replacement curtain hasn’t arrived. When I ring Modern at Bella Vista in Sydney the woman in charge of servicing and repairs is usually 'on the phone' or 'at lunch'. Sometimes I don’t get a call back. The latest excuse is that the curtain wasn’t in the last shipment and is on ‘special express order’ to arrive on Thursday & be installed next week. I’ve heard this excuse several times now and I no longer believe a word I’m told by Modern.nnBased on the way I’ve been treated I doubt whether Modern intends remaking the curtain that was too narrow. I’m quite ill and I’ll likely die before the problem is resolved and I suspect that Modern would see this as an ideal solution. My younger brother will inherit my house and will need to buy a similar shutter from a reputable company.nnThere are companies that sell shutters at a fixed price with a fair profit margin for the company but Modern isn’t one of them. If you are old and vulnerable or young and stupid you are seen as fair game by Modern salesmen and they’ll try you on by quoting double what a fair price is. My advice based on my recent experience is to avoid Modern like the Corona virus because once they make a mistake they'll do anything to avoid fixing it.nnEdit: After posting my review a man named John from Modern rang and said that the problem was due to a ‘disconnect’ between Modern in Sydney & the factory in South Australia that makes the shutters to size. He said that it should never have been my problem to fix and that Modern in Sydney is working on sorting the issue out. The new correct width curtain didn't arrive with the 'express' shipment on Thursday as promised. No surprise there. Hopefully it will in the next week. I'll believe what John told me when I see the replacement curtain installed & the problem resolved.nnPostscript: the problem has now been fixed. Despite the shutter being many years old & out of warranty Modern did it as a warranty repair free of charge as a gesture of goodwill because of all the time & trouble involved resolving the problem. All credit to Modern for this.
