Cooktown History Centre

Never got to go inside was not impressed the people looking after the place were closing an hour befor closing time

An insight into the history of Cooktown. Well presented.

Much better than the more famous James Cook Museum, this excellent centre features a comprehensive look at Cooktown from the gold rush to the present with maps, models, photos, personal stories and much more set out in easy to follow chronological order. The model of the main street in the first year of the town was the highlight. A must see right in the centre of this great little town.

Very interesting, all the local history of Cooktown. Worth the visit

Currently closed (as is half the town). Opens week of 11 Jan. Very disappointed.
