De Bortoli Wines Yarra Valley Cellar Door and Restaurant

We visited the winery with the intention of having a light lunch and tasting one or two of the latest releases from the cellar door. Unfortunately the restaurant only offered a two or three course lunch option so we opted for a cheese platter which we went to order through the Cellar Door. Upon telling the cellar door staff we intended to purchase a dozen bottles and a cheese platter (about $180) and while waiting we would like to try something, the lifeless staff insisted that we would be charged $20 for four people. I understand that tasting fees are necessary to cover costs for large groups, but for a small family who have just said that they'd be purchasing $180 worth of produce? How incredibly pretentious! Apparently the wine was a "sale item" and so not included in the "buy $100 and get the tasting fee waived". This sort of attitude is not what we visited for. Give us a great experience and we will spend. We quickly decided this place was not for us. (Two stars for the view / garden which was worth the drive in)

We had a wonderful lunch. Staff were great so too the wines. A lovely part of the world, the Yarra Valley.

Amazing views, great service, awesome wines at great prices and a beautiful garden and lawn area to enjoy a picnic and drink. Absolutely love coming here.

We really enjoyed coming here. The meals were excellent and of course the wine was great. Can't wait to be able to come back!
