Town of Elk Point-mainstreet (50th Street) and scenic point

Small east-central Alberta town located about 90 km. (55 miles) west of the Alberta/Saskatchewan border on AB Highway 41 and just north of the junction of AB Highways 41 and 646. Also about 2 km. north of the North Saskatchewan River. The town is a regional agricultural service centre and has a small amount of oil and gas service industry. The nearby (13 km. southeast of town) Fort George and Buckingham House; two rival companies' fur trading posts which were built as virtual neighbour's along the nearby North Saskatchewan River; harken back to the time of some of the earliest settlement of this area by Europeans over 225 years ago. Relatively laid back small community with some interesting and top notch businesses.
