Lock Surgeon

I manage several buildings and switched to Lock Surgeon. Fantastic service, very well trained technicians, always on time. Part I like the best is they can do it all. Locks, doors, access control, window bars, electrical, auto sliding doors. They are a bit more expensive but you pay for what you get. If you need a pro job done. Call these guys.

Got a chip key made to my car. Very friendly and professional. They had 3 option unlike the dealer. Dealer wanted $550 and there price was about the same for comparable product. Option 2 was $195. They also had a cheaper option that I went for $148 as my car is older. Only took about 10 mins. I was in and out with my new key. Works great. Highly recommend

fI needed a master key for my car and it's a smart key so it needs special key cutting and programming. Dealer wants about $400 for key and programming. Phoned Lock Surgeon after an internet search and saw that they could do the service. Phoned to confirm they could do it and he implied it could be done but would need to see car and key. Drove across town and upon entering an empty store, showed the lone employee the key and he said they don't have keys on site and they come from a warehouse. Next, he informs me the key will cost $250 and then there is a $250 charge to program. The same or very similar key on the net is running in the $50 range which indicates their markup is tremendous. Don't care if their quality is better, it can't be that much. Dealer is less than $300 retail and probably much less wholesale. I quoted the dealer cost and the response was they don't compete with dealers. Most self respecting shops will at least match prices but this was very disappointing. Business are free to set their prices but customers are free to walk away. Just wish the guy had been more up front on the phone and it could have saved me an hour.

The guy literally worked for 30 minutes and charged 400 for such minor repairs!! If we knew this is how much we would spend, we would’ve just cancelled them. So dad forgot to call and cancel him since we already got the garage door fixed. But dad wanted to give him something because we never cancelled and he felt bad for the business so he just wanted to give him the business for something (ps. Never doing that again). The guy charged 400 dollars for just cutting 2 keys and fixing a bedroom door that wouldn’t close properly. It was a minuscule repair to one door. The breakdown was 200 per hour for labour plus cost for whatever they fix and 150 for the SERVICE CALL. So you’re telling me I shouldn’t call you guys to book your service? We fixed the garage door for half the price they charged us and we had so many things fixed on the garage. From the knobs to the wire. He only charged us $200. Company was Quality Garage Door Services for any of you reconsidering. These guys are overpriced, we are never giving them the business ever again.

I went into Lock Surgeon at 2020-32 ave ne today. This place should be sued and shut down. The staff is rude and do not know what the Calgary bylaw mask exemption is. Told me to wait outside after I stated I was medically exempt and have no symptoms. They need to learn what the bylaw states. You cannot decline or alter service to a medically exempt person. As I stated to the employee and then told him he is wearing a mask he is protected. He says, you might sneeze on our products. I had just a simple question of how much to re-code a storm door lock. He quoted me $50. I laughed and left. Went to Lowes and bought a whole new replacement lock, latch that came with two keys for $12. I do not recommend Lock Surgeon to anyone. They are unprofessional and over priced. Further to the owners response. You need to educate yourself on the Calgary City Bylaw you cannot refuse service to any one that has an exemption of medical or disability furthermore I or anyone does not have to provide evidence of such exemptions. That is a privacy issue.
