Located in deep cove, it is a bit of a drive to get too if you are coming from anywhere other than deep cove. You aren’t coming just for Cates park but while in a deep cove you might as well walk it. It takes no more than 10-15 minutes. Locals do go swimming in the water at times but it’s a rocky beach and the water is cold. Make the day of it by getting honey doughnuts, hiking quarry rock, renting kayaks and eating at arms reach bistro.
The park has some picnic areas, playground and water access which is a lot of fun for kids, so a good place to take the kids. There is free parking but on a warm day, the lot and surrounding streets are overflowing with cars.
Beautiful park located in North Vancouver. Highly recommend during COVID as a safe place to meet with friends given lots of picnic tables (covered and uncovered) and a great playground for kids.
Easy to find parking and was not overwhelmingly busy. Bring your own food and drinks as the vendors are closed at the moment
Ample parking. Very nice beach with a mix of shade and sun thanks to giant trees on the beach. There is kayaking and paddling on the ocean and available for rental. Very quiet and pleasant. I went for kayak rentals and I had a great time. The experience was unreal as I got to paddle passed rocky shores and little islands. The water was relatively calm and I even saw a seal swim past by me. There is a lot to see as you paddle through the park.
This park is absolutely gorgeous. We came over to launch the boat only for a ride up Indian arm, I wish we could have stayed longer as I didn’t realize there was a huge playground and nice beach area as well. Really beautiful park.
Great park. Some nice trails. Waterfront with swimming. Pick nicks. A wonderful afternoon. Quiet area. Peaceful.
