This facility is very clean and well run. The techs are pretty wonderful along with the receptionists..the only reason I am deducting 2 points is because of the policy that your support person cannot be in the room with you until after the fact. I really don’t understand who would treat these medical appointments as parties..maybe adjust the rule to “you and your support person must remain silent until...” I feel heartbroken for all the women who don’t see a heartbeat on that monitor and are alone for that dreadful moment. Not to mention when you are finding out the sex of your baby..they refuse to write the information down for you (so you can open the envelope in private or plan a gender reveal)..the policy is you need to bring a person with you who can be told the sex. I find this extremely silly and unreasonable.

This review is specifically for the OB clinic at the Bonnyville medical clinic. I have no experience with the rest of the clinic, that being said my experience with the OB clinic was aweful. At my first appointment I was told I would have to qive birth in Edmonton or lloydminister, that my BMI wasnt too high yet but during my pregnancy it would probably go over their BMI limit to deliver in Bonnyville by the time I was full term. We very specifically asked if delivery in Cold Lake was an option and we where told no. I ended up being diagnosed with gestational diabetes so they referred me to a diabetes clinic in Edmonton. I asked to be referred to lloyd as it would be nearly impossible for me to get to Edmonton for the appointment and I was already scheduled to see the doctor that was supposed to deliver my baby soon in lloyd. I was told there was no one in lloyd so I was stuck trying to figure out how to get to Edmonton. Meanwhile I seen my doctor in Lloyd and he had me in to see a specialist for my diabetes the same day at the lloydminister hospital. A specialist that the OB in Bonnyville told me didnt exist. After that I chose to be seen in lloyd for the remainder of my Obstetrician care because I was unhappy with the care I was receiving in bonnyville and they had already told me cold lake wasnt able to deliver my baby. After making trips weekly to lloydminister, spending money on gas,and eating out while away from home for 8 weeks I ended up going to cold lake hospital for a non stress test. I mentioned to the nurse that I was always so nervous about possible contractions because we had to go all the way to lloyd. She asked me a few questions and said she was going to go get the doctor. Dr.Karim (who was absolutely wonderful) Came in and informed me that there was absolutely no reason I couldnt deliver in Cold Lake and she was very confused as to why I wasnt at least sent to her for an assessment before sending me so far out of town. She told me told me that they usually dont turn women away in ColdLake for BMI unless it's an extreme case and that even with Bonnyvilles strict BMI limit I was only 1 point over what they would allow. I was 38 weeks at this point but Dr. Karim took me on as a patient and squeezed me in for multiple appointments in those two weeks to make sure I had the best care possible for myself and my baby. At my first appointment she asked how much Iron I was taking daily, apparently my bloodwork that was sent to bonnyville during the beginning of my pregnancy indicated I had very low iron, this was never even mentioned to me at any of my appointments and even though I had all the symptoms of low iron I assumed the constant tiredness and lack of energy was due to being pregnant in the middle of summer because low iron is something they usually check for with bloodwork in pregnancy. Turns out they checked for it but forgot to mention it to me at any of the multiple appointments I had. I would never recommend the Bonnyville OB clinic to anyone. The woman who works in the front, I belive her name is Brenda, is wonderful, but that's the only good thing I have to say about my experience.

I had a Dr. Appointment with Dr. Green today. I take LogistiCare with Medicaid transportation to all of my medical appointments since I don't drive. LogistiCare with Medicaid requires a doctor's signature yearly to approve that I can ride with LogistiCare Transportation. Logistic care with Medicaid transportation is the only way I can get to a doctor! LogistiCare Transportation is supposed to be part of Medicaid's benefit. I just moved here recently and started to see Dr. Green and LogistiCare kept telling me they were faxing the form required, so that I could ride with LogistiCare Transportation to the Bonneville Family Clinic, and LogistiCare Transportation told me that the clinic was not responding-also that they had called and that they the clinic did not answer their phone to get the doctor's approval. I know that Bonneville Family clinic to be efficient and I did not believe LogistiCare had tried to contact them. This has been going on for about 2 months and every time I tried to call in a ride to go to the doctor, LogistiCare with Medicaid transportation was rude and said I needed that form with Doctor Green's approval. I told him I had been trying for 2 months. It was a big mess with me calling back and forth and thank God after I called the Main Headquarters in Georgia for LogistiCare, it immediately got straightened out. I apologized to the medical assistant that had to deal with all that and be on hold with LogistiCare for 40 minutes. After I went to the doctor today though it was extremely uncomfortable and awkward and Dr. Green had a total different demeanor than the last time I had seen him! He was actually downright rude! I think it is immature for them to take that out on me when it was LogistiCare transportation's fault. So! Thanks to LogistiCare with Medicaid transportation, they have completely ruined a doctor-client relationship! I have since then found another doctor!!!
