The staff are amazing, they treated my cat & me both so good, he wasn't very happy about it, but was so good for them. A service desperately needed for low income people, or families, specially those who only have their fur babies with them. Thank you ladies!
This society is operated by pure Angels they are the answer to my prayers they have helped me with my pets more than words can explain they will be getting a donation from me as soon as I can they are truly the best thing that has come my way for keeping my dogs healthy and safe. Amazing people
My mom is on disability and has had help from this group over the years. But lately it’s like they don’t have any customer service. After her service dog died, they told her they could help if she needed it with the vet expenses to have a new service dog. So 20 months ago she reached out to them for help with a puppy I had gotten to be a service dog for her since she is mostly blind. She had the classes lined up for training and just needed help with getting the puppy spayed when she became the right age. She got on the wait list early since the puppy was only 12 weeks old at the time. It has been 20 months since then and the puppy isn’t a puppy anymore; she is almost too old for the service dog training classes. We keep calling, they keep telling her that she’s been pushed down the wait list because the dog keeps getting bigger, like dogs do. I invested $800 in to this dog for my mom to have a service dog, and paid all the initial vet bills myself because they never responded to my moms phone calls. Then I lost my job, and have since been struggling to get back on track financially. I haven’t been able to pay for the dog to be fixed, because I’m constantly paying for a special veterinary food for her cat. Food that this society promised her they would help with because it costs more money than my mom gets in a month after her bills are paid. They arranged vet care for her cat, switched the cat to an expensive medical food that they said they would help with the cost of, prescribed medication and said they’d give more upon recheck. But they never helped with any food past the few cans they gave her that day, and they never did a recheck to give her any more meds no matter how many times my mom called. So I’ve been paying for that cat to get the food, to see other vets that will actually call us back, and to get medications from those vets. One day about two months ago the cat got really, really sick. The cat stopped eating for three whole days; and I was between paycheques so I couldn’t take the cat in for my mom. My mom called this society on day 1, they called back on day 5 after the cat had started eating again and booked her an appointment. They switched her foods, to an even more expensive one, and gave my mom five cans of it. They told my mom the cat has asthma and will need medication, probably for her whole life, for it. They gave a 7 day supply of the medication and told my mom that she would get more upon recheck. There has been no recheck since then, and now I’m paying for an even more expensive medical food because my mom can’t afford it and the help they promised doesn’t exist. A food that I could only get 24 cans of without proof of the prescription, so now the cat has to go without it completely. Because this society won’t call back or forward the medical documents. So all the money I’d been saving to get my moms dog spayed finally before she ages out of her chance to be a service dog, is now gone. This society seems to be running on forgotten commitments, empty or broken promises and unreturned calls. I understand that she isn’t their only client. But they have broken almost every promise they have ever made to my mom, and their lack of follow up care has almost killed her cat in the past; from lack of proper medications and the constant switching of foods, since they won’t even send the paperwork in to a different vet so that I can get the food they’ve prescribed for my moms cat. Or the asthma medication because the only record saying it’s needed is theirs. Promises shouldn’t be made if they can’t be kept. If my mom didn’t have me, I don’t know what she would do for any help at all with her veterinary bills and medical food. For animals this society promised that they would help with. I can’t imagine what their other clients on disability feel like, who don’t have someone that will move heaven and earth to help them. My mom has since said that she would not recommended to anyone she knows that is on disability to trust this society to help in a timely way or to deliver on promises. It doesn’t happen.
I have no idea why someone would be critical of a charity? That said, this is a wonderful service and the people who try to help are kind and caring. They are giving their best effort to help, in a world that is in short supply of such people.
