We can't risk going to Miller Park Off-leash Area anymore after we used it for over 40 years, even before it was a designated off-leash area. We''ve lived in the area for almost 54 years. Now with all the holes dug by the dogs and unfilled by the careless owners going there, and essentially neglected by City workers, our dog has sustained leg injuries three times in the past year or so. These weren't from running, but just from stepping into various holes. Three different legs were affected on three separate occasions. Each injury required from 2 - 4 months of on leash walking and no ball playing or running so as to assist with recovery under veterinarians' care. One required medication to aid cartilage repairing. It's far too risky to go there unless restricting ourselves to the upper (northeast) zone under the trees, which rarely has holes, although (according to the posted map) it's technically not part of the off-leash area, and that in itself is a goofy arrangement that the City has made arbitrarily. It should be part of the off-leash zone as it is openly connected with the main off-leash area, So most people, probably including the bylaw officers, have no idea that it is not part of the off-leash area. The City needs to amend the zoning there so that their map coincides with what most people assume to be the (off-leash) case according to simple eye-balling of the area.

Nice and friendly people come here with their dogs which makes for a perfect place to let your dogs off of their leashes to run around with other friendly dogs while you have small talk with all the regular visitors. It's never over crowded, it's a well kept park, respected by all who visit.
