Half way from the lake is Munro Lookout located at 715 meter above sea level, with total of 628 meters elevation gain, which took us 1 hr 10 min, to get there. It is very steep but not that long.

In summer or later months this is awesome. No views at the top juts the lake in may it was still frozen over with snow in the surrounding area so no were to really sit and take it in. Challenging steep hike up with lots of roots and mud as you get closer to the lake. Best saved for later in the season of you wanted to float or picnic

Weird, but I'm into it. The road leading to the trail is REALLY gravelly, and parking is scarce. The trail is beautiful, lots of mixed terrain and the little creek is really something. Be ready to see some weird stuff though, I found a big rock with "REPENT" written in large red letters and several red arrows pointing across the creek to what seemed to be just a sheer rock face.

I've been hiking along this trail twice, and I will be back a third time. This is a notably steep and challenging hike all the way up to Munro Lake, and is roughly 5km one way. Once at Munro Lake, you can continue on up to Dennet Lake if you're willing to hike another 45 minutes or so. The first time giving this trail a try, I saw a black bear nearby, so make sure you're prepared for that situation. My second time, going in January, saw me almost get to Munro Lake, but a fair bit of snow had obscured the trail and made me turn back. Some thoughtful hikers have noted a "Viewpoint Loop" about 3 km in, after a rough series of switchbacks, which provide a beautiful view of the surrounding scenery with just a slight detour. You'll see signs for this loop, along with a sign letting you know Munro Lake is another 1.6km away. The majority of the hike takes place amongst a rather thick old growth forest, which is beautiful in it's own right, but is lacking in views. Look for the entrance to this hike about 3 kilometers after the entrance to Minnekhada Regional Park - its unmarked, on the left side of the road. Overall, a gorgeous and very quiet trail that's best done between June to October.
