Big square shaped, tree lined, except for one tree, that caused a minor wind shadow, but enough space to avoid it. Not a lot of wind, but enough to get a couple good runs in, fly my kite. 😎

Wide open, quiet park, perfect for a stroll. Playground is in good condition.

This time was not good. There was a group of young adults(or late teens) who had a dog(leashed, thankfully), smelt heavily like weed and with Kokanee beer cans laying about while they were all over the equipment meant for children. We had to take the kids to the baseball diamond for them to play safely instead. I have edited the photos for their privacy, however. There is a clear sign saying no dogs at the park. Usually a fine park, you can tell people come by regularly for maintenance. Edit: Google has not deleted the original photos, for some reason. I've flagged it so hopefully they will take it down.

Columbia Park is a nice little green space in the Oakridge neighbourhood. Relatively flat, the park is good for field sports like football, soccer, and ultimate, which is evident by the many recreational teams that use the space; many youth sports clubs have their games at Columbia Park, too. The north- and south-east corners of the park have baseball diamonds where during the spring/summer many recreational softball and baseball teams play. A playground is located at the north-west corner, as well as a very shallow concrete pool which is operational only during the summer months. Lots of runners, joggers, and casual walkers use this park, too. I don't know what the City's upkeep for the park is, but during hot and dry summer months the grass dries up and loses its lush green field—trees line the perimeter so no shade covers the field. The soil is also relatively soft, so when it rains the field gets quite muddy. I used to live near Columbia Park and visited often, and always cut through the field going home. Miss this park.

Nice park, but grass needs cutting and garbage is overflowing.
