Installed a roof without putting proper plywood overtop an existing shiplap contrary to BC roofing association guidelines. Nails were also plain roofing nails and were not 2” spiral. During hot / cold contraction expansion seasons, it will cause the nail to back out. The lack of a proper 3/4” plywood underlay installation overtop of the shiplap will void the warranty of the shingles as there isn’t a proper foundation for the nails to bite into if the existing shiplap is cracked or damaged. By the time the elderly homeowner was made aware, it was too late and done without proper notification or discussion with the elderly homeowner that they won’t be installing the plywood sheathing. Recommending any homeowner to do their due diligence and ask what type of materials they will use and the method they will be installing the roof. After discovering the improper installation technique, the company only offered a 15 year warranty which is rather on the low life expectancy of a newly shingled roof. Upon completion, the homeowner thought there was a couple shingles missing and when they contacted the roofing company owner to discuss the missing ridge vent shingles, he came over right away and was diligent and responsible enough to come over and to explain that they ran out of materials and were going to come install it the following next day. Upgrading the review to 2.5 stars as the roofing owner was responsive and was communicative at the end.
